As-Directed Terms & Conditions
- MINIMUMS. When both the pick-up point (starting point) and drop-off
(ending point) are in the central service area, there is a 1-hr. minimum.
When both the pick-up and drop-off are in Washtenaw County, but one of
them is outside of the central service area,
there is a 2-hour minimum.
- BILLING. For orders longer than the minimum, pricing is broken down into 15-minute
(quarter hour) increments.
- MILEAGE. 20 miles per hour, or 5 miles per quarter hour, are included in
the base price. Mileage past this amount will be billed at a rate of $1.80/mile.
- WAITING TIME. There is no charge for waiting time on as-directed service,
as it is already included in the price.
- PARKING FEES & TOLLS. Parking fees and tolls are charged to the customer at cost
(added to the bill). There is no surcharge for these items.
- VEHICLES. Customers may request a specific type of vehicle for AD
service (sedan or van, etc.). If they request a specific make of vehicle
(e.g., a Cadillac), there is a $5 per hour surcharge (if we can accommodate the request).
- ADVANCE RESERVATIONS. AD orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance
of the desired start time.
- EARLY TERMINATION. Orders that are terminated before their scheduled ending
time are still subject to the full charge for the original reservation.
- EXTENDING ORDERS. Orders may be extended when extending the order does not:
- Cause or make likely the late servicing of another order.
- Extend the driver on duty past the scheduled end of their shift without the
driver's permission.
- Extend the driver past their allowed limit of active duty for that day.
Time and mileage are still charged as outlined in #2 and #3 above on
these extended orders.
- DEPOSITS. In order to reserve a vehicle, a deposit for the full estimated
amount of the trip must be received by Custom Transit. The deposit may be made
by credit card, or by having a pre-existing corporate or other account with
Custom Transit.
- LATE ARRIVALS:
- If Custom Transit (CTI) is late by 15 minutes or less to an order, the
Customer is still subject to the full charge for the order, minus the charge
for the original 15 minutes. 'Minimums' listed in #1 would not apply in such cases.
- If Custom Transit is more than 15 minutes late to the order, the
customer is not obligated to take the order. Should the customer decide to
continue with the order, however, they will be subject to the charge for the
full order, minus whatever time CTI is late to the order. In such cases,
partial quarter-hours at the beginning of the order will not be billed to
the customer (they will be calculated in the customer's favor). For instance,
if CTI is 20 minutes late, the customer would not be billed for the first
2 quarter-hours, should they decide to still keep the order. 'Minimums' listed
in #1 would not apply in such cases.
- CANCELLATIONS. Notice of cancellations must be received by Custom Transit at
least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled start of the order, except for these times:
- The Tuesday-Monday around Thanksgiving weekend. In this case, orders
must be cancelled 48 hours in advance.
- The Thursday-Saturday at the start of SPRING BREAK for UM. In this case,
orders must be cancelled 72 hours in advance.
- The Saturday-Monday at the end of SPRING BREAK for UM. In this case,
orders must be cancelled 48 hours in advance.
- The Friday-Tuesday during Mid-Fall Break for UM. In this case,
orders must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance.
